abstract A multiplication polymerization process comprises providing a surface containing a plurality of reactive functional groups, reacting one or more of the reactive functional groups with a mer molecule capable of providing two or more reactive functional groups for each of the reactive functional groups reacted and repeating the foregoing steps until a desired polymeric film is attained. This method can be particularly employed with preparation of a hyperbranched polymer films on surfaces.
