Process for the aerobic biological break-down of substances having low water-solubility, and a micro-organism of the strain ihi-91 |
abstract |
The invention concerns a process for the aerobic biological break-down of substances having low water-solubility in an aqueous medium, and a new micro-organism of the strain IHI-91 which is especially suitable for use in the process in question. The process is characterised in that the bioavailability of the substances to be broken down is raised by setting the temperature of the aqueous medium to 45 °C or more and in that, to effect break-down of the substances with low water-solubility, use is made of an aerobically-growing culture of thermophilic micro-organisms. This process and the new micro-organism can be used to break down fats and fatty compounds effectively. |
