Antibody profile linked diagnostic testing |
abstract |
The present invention is a method for discriminating and positively identifying the source of a biological sample used for diagnostic testing by linking diagnostic test results to an antibody profile of the biological sample. The invention is based on the principle that humans and other animals have unique sets of antibodies referred to as individual-specific antibodies or IS antibodies. When IS antibodies are reacted with a random number of antigens, such as human HeLa cell antigens, certain IS antibodies specifically bind to certain antigens forming immune complexes. When IS antibodies from different individuals are reacted with the same set of antigens, different immune complexes form. The highly unique combination of immune complexes that form generates a biological signature which is referred to as an antibody profile (AbP) or antibody fingerprint. By generating an AbP of each biological sample used for diagnostic testing, the present invention simultaneously positively identifies the origin of the biological sample assayed. |
