titleOfInvention Process for the preparation of cross-linked polymers
abstract The invention relates to an improved process for the preparation of cross-linked polymers during which polyamino amides (a) are firstly reacted at 10 to 35 °C with an quantity of 5 to 40 mol %, in relation to the nitrogen available for cross-linking, of epichlorhydrine, and (b) the intermediate is set to a pH value ranging from 8 to 11 and cross-linked at a temperature in the range of from 20 to 45 °C with a further quantity of epichlorhydrine with the result that the molar application ratio is in total 90 to 125 mol % in relation to the nitrogen available for cross-linking. The cross-linked polymers are suitable as wet strength resins for treating paper.
