A filter for removing soot from engine bleed air includes a sintered metal filter medium. In a preferred embodiment, the sintered metal medium comprises a fiber metal medium having a voids volume of about 50 to about 95 % and containing fibers with a diameter in the range from about 1 to about 150 νm. The fiber metal medium may include fibers formed by melt overflow castin. The filter can effectively remove soot particles of 1 - 5 νm from bleed air even at very low flow rates. |
