A method is proposed for producing pigments by applying a polymerisable mixture to a surface, orienting the liquid crystals in the mixture, polymerising the mixture, removing the polymer film from the surface and shredding the polymer film to form pigment particles. The method is characterised in that the polymerisable mixture contains the following components: a1) at least one chiral liquid crystalline polymerisable monomer or a2) at least one achiral liquid crystalline polymerisable monomer and a chiral compound; and additionally b) a polymer binder and/or monomer compounds which are converted to a polymer binder by polymerisation and/or a dispersing auxiliary agent. |
