abstract The present invention includes a guidewire device capable of delivering perfusion fluids to a vascular site while at the same time exhibiting handling characteristics associated with existing non-perfusion guidewires. The fluid delivery system (100) includes a high pressure source (102), such as a pump or reservoir, a connector (70), a tube (104) connecting an output of high pressure source (102) to an input of connector (70), and a perfusion guidewire (108). Preferred embodiments also permit high-pressure perfusion of supersaturated solutions, and include a liquid flow path which will not promote bubble generation or growth, or destabilize a supersaturated solution.
