abstract A method has been developed for labeling of antibodies with a fluorescent dye where the antibody is first bound to immobilized antigen, the antibody is labeled with the dye, the unbound dye is removed, and then the antibody is eluted from the antigen. As demonstrated by the examples, antibody immunoreactive with AI was labeled with a fluorescent dye and then used in an assay for AI. The results showed that the antibody prepared by this method had a 20 % increase in specific binding compared to radioimmunoassay (RIA).
