abstract A coated wire sensor, including a platinum wire (1) as a working electrode, a sensor body (3) in the form of a hollow member disposed about at least a portion of the platinum wire, the sensor body being spaced from the platinum wire, a reference electrode (6) that is operatively associated with a first end of the platinum wire, but is not in contact with the wire, insulation (2) disposed along at least a portion of a length of the platinum wire between the wire and the sensor body and/or the reference electrode, enzyme-containing material (4) disposed on the first end of the platinum wirer, the enzyme-containing material comprising enzyme chemically linked to fine carbon particles, and a coating (5) disposed over the enzyme-containing material.
