A material which does not produce any gaseous organic material during use is used as a filter medium for an air filter and a sealant for sealing between the air filter and a frame. Specifically, a synthetic paraffin freed from any aliphatic hydrocarbon having 19 or less carbon atoms is used as a non-silicone water repellant contained in a treatment for forming fibers into a cloth filter medium. A carboxylic ester having a molecular weight of 400 or above is used as a plasticizer added to the treatment and the sealant, and a phenolic compound having a molecular weight of 300 or above is used as an antioxidant added similarly. This prevents the presence of gaseous organic materials in clean rooms, semiconductor production facilities, and the like. Further, the construction of the filter medium and the sealant by using a material which does not emit organic phosphorus compounds and boron compounds can provide clean rooms and local facilities suitable for the production of semi-conductors. |
