titleOfInvention | Cross-linkable or curable polylactone composition, cross-linked or cured molding made therefrom and process for the production thereof |
abstract | A cross-linkable polylactone composition comprising 100 parts by weight of a polylactone (A) having a number-average molecular weight of 10,000 to 300,000 and 0.1 to 30 parts by weight of a cross-linking monomer (B) which can constrain the molecular chain of the polylactone (A) when irradiated with an active radiation or heated; a process for producing a cross-linked polylactone molding by melting the above composition at a temperature not causing the cross-linking of the composition, molding the melt and cross-linking the obtained molding by irradiation with an active radiation or heating; and a cross-linked molding produced by this process. Further, a cured polylactone molding having similar properties to those of the above cross-linked molding can also be produced from a curable polylactone composition comprising a polylactone composition (X) comprising a specific polylactone (C) and a polyhydric alcohol (D) and a specific curing agent (Y). These moldings are biodegradable and superior to uncross-linked or uncured polylactones inmechanical strength, heat resistance, oil resistance, wear resistance and so on. Further, when an external force is applied to the molding in a state softened by heating, the molding is deformed while exhibiting rubber elasticity; when the deformed molding is as such cooled, the resulting solid keeps the deformed shape; and when the solid is softened again by heating, the original shaped is restored. Thus, the moldings have shape-memory properties and therefore are useful as the material of patient-fixing seat for radiation therapy, model-making material for wig, modeling material for teeth, gypsum and so on. |
