titleOfInvention Ultrasonic method for forming spherical nickel hydroxide
abstract A method for increasing the disorder of the crystalline of a solid particulate material. The method includes the steps of, providing at least one solid particulate material, forming a suspension of the solid particulate material in a liquid suspendant; and exposing the solid particulate material suspended in the liquid suspendant to ultrasonic energy of a power and frequency sufficient to impart lattice transformational energy to the particulate, through interparticle collisons and/or acoustic cavitation. Included within the scope of the basic invention is a method for preparing spherical nickel hydroxide. The method in its most basic form includes the steps of forming a metal ion solution which contains at least nickel ions, forming an alkali solution which contains hydroxyl ions, mixing the metal ion solution and the alkali solution together to effect precipitation of nickel hydroxide; and applying ultrasonic energy to the nickel hydroxide as it precipitates to thereby form spherical nickel hydroxide particulate.
