abstract A process is disclosed for purifying 1,1-difluoroethane (HFC-152a) by reactive distillation. In one aspect the process removes unsaturated species and chlorinated organic impurities from HFC-152a by either hydrofluorination or halogen substitution while simultaneously distilling off the 1,1-difluoroethane product.
