abstract Disclosed is an apparatus and a method for irradiating sheets of materials, especially printing plates where the sheet is forced or pressed radially in the internal drum of the apparatus in order to obtain the desired shape of the material during irradiation while holding the sheet in a manner so that preferably no shadows are generated on the sheet during irradiation. Another aspect of the invention is a method and an apparatus for providing registering edges in a sheet of material in e.g. an internal drum image setter. The advantage of the present apparatus and method is the fact that no shadows are generated on the sheet during irradiation.
