abstract The invention provides a cell line including a first reporter gene arranged to express an assayable first gene product, expression of the first reporter gene being AP-1 mediated, and a second reporter gene arranged to express a second assayable gene product, expression of the second reporter gene being mediated by the glucocorticoid receptor (GR). The invention also provides a method of testing a compound for glucocorticoid-like activity comprising providing cells in accordance with the first aspect of the invention, stimulating AP1 activity in the cells and contacting the cells with the compound and monitoring expression of the first and second gene products.
