titleOfInvention | Multiple encapsulation of oleophilic substances |
abstract | A method for producing a composition of an oleophilic substance encapsulated by a polymer comprises (a) incorporating an oleophilic substance into a primary polymer-containing solution and (b) solidifying the primary polymer under mixing conditions to encapsulate the oleophilic substance in the (primary) polymer, and optionally (c) mixing the so-produced primary polymer-encapsulated oleophilic substance as particles with a further (secondary) polymer to encapsulate the primary polymer-encapsulated oleophilic substance particles in the secondary polymer, and, also optionally (d) mixing the so-produced primary and secondary polymer-encapsulated oleophilic substance as particles with a further (tertiary) polymer to encapsulate once again. The composition preferably contains the oleophilic substance, e.g. vitamin A, D, E or K or a derivative thereof, in an amount ranging from about 30 % to about 90 % by weight, and may thereafter be converted as a free-flowing particulate material into tablets, capsules, premixes, suspensions, emulsions, etc. for utility in food, animal feed or pharmaceutical applications. |
