titleOfInvention | Esterified polyanionic cyclodextrins as smooth muscle cell proliferation inhibitors |
abstract | This invention relates to esterified polysulfated cyclodextrins, their use in treating diseases and conditions which are characterized by excessive smooth muscle cell (SMC) proliferation such as restenosis and a pharmaceutical composition thereof. The compounds useful in this invention are represented by Formula (I), where: M is a pharmaceutically acceptable cation; p is 1 or 2; q is n/2 when p is 2 and q is n when p is 1; R is selected from the group consisting of C1-C12 lower alkyl, C3-C12 cycloalkyl, and aryl or heteroaryl optionally substituted with 1-3 substituents independently selected from halogen, C1-C12 lower alkyl or C1-C12 alkoxy; and n is an integer from 6 - 8, representing α-cyclodextrin (n = 6), β-cyclodextrin (n = 7), and η-cyclodextrin (n = 8). |
