abstract Proposed are sulphated compounds obtained by reacting at least partially unsaturated hydrocarbons a) having 8 to 72 C-atoms with a sulphating reagent b) and subsequently neutralizing. Such sulphated compounds are suitable for use in the stuffing finish of leather. Used as the sulphating reagent b) is a combination of at least one organic sulphonic acid b1) and sulphuric acid b2), the proportion of sulphuric acid, relative to the sum of the organic sulphonic acid and the sulphuric acid, being 0.5 to 80 % by wt.
