A rubber composition improved in static-charge buildup, which comprise 100 parts by weight of a rubber containing at least 90 parts by weight of a diene rubber, 30-120 parts by weight of a filler, and 0.2-8 parts by weight of a nonionic surfactant or a phosphoric ester; and a pneumatic tire wherein the tread is made from the above composition. A representative example of the surfactant is a product of addition reaction between 1 mol of a C6-C25 linear, cyclic or branched (un)saturated mono- or polyhydric aliphatic alcohol and 2-30 mol of ethylene oxide or between 1 mol of an alkylphenol and 2-30 mol of ethylene oxide, while a representative example of the phosphoric ester is one represented by general formula (V), wherein R5 represents a C¿8?-C25 linear or branched (un)saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group or an aryl group; and q and r are each an integer, provided the sum of q and r ranges from 1 to 30. |
