abstract A method of inhibiting polymerization of target proteins by administration of compounds capable of inhibiting aggregation and subsequent transglutaminase-induced cross-linking of adjacent peptides of the target proteins is provided. These compounds are useful as antithrombotic agents and in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. A method of screening and identifying compounds capable of inhibiting aggregation and subsequent transglutaminase-induced crosslinking of amyloid β peptide is also provided.
