abstract A process and device are disclosed for roasting green coffee beans (18) by using infra-red radiation. Infra-red radiation is directly applied to the coffee beans (18), for example by arranging the infra-red radiator(s) in the roasting chamber. As a result, the vapours and gasses evolved are burnt during the roasting process.
