titleOfInvention Method of preparing alkali-metal peroxide/percarbonate solutions
abstract Described is a method of preparing aqueous alkali-metal peroxide and/or percarbonate solutions in an electrochemical cell consisting of a porous oxygen diffusion cathode (1) and an anode (2). In this method, the cell is operated with a low external cell voltage. An electrolyte (7) containing an alkali-metal hydroxide and/or alkali-metal carbonate is passed through the cell between the cathode and anode and an alkali-metal peroxide and/or alkali-metal percarbonate formed by the cathodic reduction of oxygen, the molar ratio of H2O2 to alkali metal being less than 4.
