abstract A polymer composition, in particular an absorbent material composition or an active substance-containing depot material, substantially consists of a water-soluble and/or water-swellable polymer based on polysaccharides as main polymer component and a water-swellable synthetic polymer as additional polymer component. The composition also contains a matrix material to prevent segregation and gel blocking, an ionic or covalent cross-linking agent, a reactive additive and an antiblocking agent. Also disclosed is the production and use of this composition, as well as hygiene products (for animals) and technical chemicals containing said polymer compositions, said active substance-containing depot material compositions or said absorbent material compositions.
