A method for preparing fat fractions of vegetable origin enriched with unsaponifiable materials, wherein said phytogenic fat is treated with a ketone-like polar solvent to give both a heat-insoluble fraction (I) which is not soluble in the ketone solvent and forms a first fraction rich in unsaponifiable materials, and a solution of a heat-soluble fraction (S) in said ketone solvent, whereafter said heat-soluble fraction (S) is caused to crystallise in a crystallisation stage in a solvent at a temperature below 0 °C, the resulting product is filtered to give a filtrate (F) which forms a second fraction rich in unsaponifiable materials after the crystallisation solvent has been evaporated. According to the method, the two fractions rich in unsaponifiable materials are then mixed. The method is particularly suitable for processing shea butter. The use of mixtures enriched with unsaponifiable materials for preparing cosmetic and/or dermatological compositions is also disclosed. |
