A method is provided for increasing the nutritional value of colustrum and first milk of pregnant mammals. β-hydroxy-β-methylbutyric acid (HMB) was orally administered for several days prior to the birth of the offspring. Administered at an effective level, fat content was increased of the colostrum and first milk. |
