The present invention relates to a process for making a flame retardant polyurethane foam which comprises reacting a reaction mixture consisting essentially of a propylene oxide-based polyol that is essentially free of ethylene oxide moieties, a polyisocyanate, melamine in an amount of between 10 and 30 parts by weight per hundred parts of the polyol, a halogenated phosphate supplemental flame retardant in an amount of between 12 and 16 parts by weight per hundred parts of the polyol, and water in an amount of between about 3 and about 6 parts by weight per hundred parts of the polyol, said polyol being further characterized by a molecular weight of between about 2,500 and about 6,000, to provide said polyurethane foam. |
