A phenethyl alcohol derivative represented by general formula (I), which is used as a stabilizer for storing colored images in a thermal recording material and is particularly improved in plasticizer resistance. Y represents a group of general formula (II) or (III); R1 represents H, alkyl or aralkyl; R?2, R3 and R4¿ represent each halogen, nitro, alkyl, alkoxy, alkenyl or alkenyloxy; R?5, R6 and R7¿ represent each H or alkyl; Z represents -SO¿2?-, -CO-, -C(CH3)2-, -S- or -O-; and m, n and p represent each an integer of 0 or above. |
