titleOfInvention Process and device for correcting the shape of a lens
abstract In order to facilitate removal (11) of different thicknesses of material in a process for correcting the shape of a lens (2) in which the radiation from a pulsed radiation source is applied to the surface of the lens through a shutter (3) in predetermined regions exposed by the shutter (3), thereby removing material from the lens at each radiation pulse through the effect of the radiation, in which the radiation is concentrated into a bunch, the cross-section (10) of which is smaller on striking the surface of the lens (2) than the area exposed by the shutter, and in which the bunch is moved in such a way that, by successsive radiation pulses impinging upon the lens surface, the whole of the lens surface exposed by the shutter is irradiated, it is proposed that the bunch is moved between successive radiation pulses only to the extent required for the areas of the lens surface on which the radiation pulses impinge partially overlap. A device for implementing this process is also proposed.
