titleOfInvention | Heparin neutralization with multimeric peptides |
abstract | The invention features a peptide which is capable of neutralizing the anticoagulant effects of heparin, and which has the sequence Y X1 X2 Y X3 X4 X5 Y X6 X7 Y, wherein (a) each Y, independently, is selected from the group consisting of leucine, isoleucine, valine, phenylalanine, tyrosine and tryptophan, and (b) each X, independently, is selected from the group consisting of alanine, arginine, asparagine, cysteine, glutamine, glycine, histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, serine, threonine, tryptophan, tyrosine, and valine. Methods for neutralizing the anticoagulant effects of heparin in a mammal using the peptide of the invention are also claimed. |
