Biomaterials for use in biomaterial devices, and biosensors, comprise immobilized modified antibodies which are capable of binding antigen or other bioactive species with high affinity and specificity. The modified antibodies are characterized in that at least one thiol-containing moiety is covalently linked to the Fc tail of the antibody so that the antibodies may be immobilized on a substrate with the Fab regions oriented away from the substrate surface. |
