abstract | Described is a method of obtaining, in short reaction times, light-coloured lower-alkyl oligoglucosides with a low polyglucose content by a) adding at elevated temperatures, in metered quantities using an in-line mixer, aqueous glucose syrup to a mixture of a lower alcohol and an acid catalyst, b) continuously evaporating off by azeotropic distillation the water contained in the reaction mixture as well as that liberated and c) when all the glucose syrup has been added, allowing the reaction mixture to continue to react. |
