In a device and method for detection and quantitation of compounds which interact with DNA, the application of evanescent wave technology using a fluorescent intercalating agent as the label offers a built in detection system. The competitive inhibition of an intercalating fluorescent compound by any unknown DNA interactive compound is detectable in real-time by the application of evanescent wave technology utilizing planar or optical fiber architectures. |
