A lighting system for an interior of a building and the like includes a means (10) for collecting and converting sunlight into concentrated light. The collecting means (10) is optically coupled, preferably by way of optical joint (21), to a channelling means (20), such as an optical cable, so that the concentrated light passes to the channelling means (20) and is channelled to a light emitting fitting for the interior of the building and the like. Preferably, the collector is a two layer stack (11, 12, 13) of luminescent (fluorescent or phosphorescent) sheets having a dye arrangement to produce light of the desired neutral or near neutral colour balance. |
