titleOfInvention Non-contact digitizing method
abstract In order to produce tracing data on a model shape by controlling an attitude of a tracer head, while tracing the tridimensional model shape in non-contact, a measuring shaft of the tracer head is rotatably controlled in an optimum direction with respect to a model surface at all times. By providing two non-contact distance detectors (5a, 5b) on the tracer head (4), a normal vector of the model surface (6) is determined on the basis of a measured value obtained by sampling tracing data from the tracer head (4). In that case, a direction of the normal vector is determined from an outer-product of the surface vector within a range in which an angle made by an axial vector using a measuring point of the measuring shaft of the tracer head (4) as a starting point and the normal vector at the measuring point does not exceed 90°. The tracer head (4) is rotatably controlled in a direction of a projection obtained by projecting this normal vector on a predetermined flat plane.
