A novel picolinic acid represented by general formula (1) and its salt, a process for producing the same, and a herbicide containing the same as the active ingredient, wherein R represents hydrogen, alkyl, etc.; R?1 and R?2 may be the same or different from each other and each represents cyano, phenoxy, etc.; Y represents oxygen, sulfur, etc.; and n represents 0 or 1. The derivative and its salt have an excellent herbicidal effect on a wide variety of weeds even in small doses, so that they are applicable as a herbicide to lowland and upland fields, non-crop land, and so forth. |
