Proposed is a process for the purification of cytokeratin 20 (CK20), in which a cyto-skeleton fraction is produced from CK20-containing cells, the proteins contained in the cyto-skeleton fraction are separated off by gel electrophoresis and/or chromatography, and the CK20 extracted from the gel or the chromatography fraction containing the CK20. Also proposed is a method of preparing CK20-specific antibodies, using CK20 purified for immunization and producing polyclonal or monoclonal antibodies by existing methods. These antibodies can be used for the immunological identification of CK20, or its α-helix central section obtained by proteolytic splitting, on tissue sections, in tissue homogenates and in body fluids. |
