abstract The administration to a poly-drug addict of ibogaine, ibogamine, tabernanthine, alkaloids in the family of apocynaceae, or their non-toxic salts have been discovered to interrupt the physiological and psychological aspects of poly-drug dependency (heroin, cocaine, alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, amphetamine, desoxyephedrine or methadone in combinations thereof). A single treatment or series of treatments may be effective for one to eighteen months or longer. Treatment consists of the oral or rectal administration of ibogaine, ibogamine, tabernanthine or their salts or derivatives in dosage ranges of 1 mg/kg to 60 mg/kg.
