abstract The invention relates to hydrophilic, water-dilatable cyclodextrin polymerizates with a high cyclodextrin content which possess good mechanical properties and to a process for producing them. The cyclodextrin pearl polymerizates according to the invention are produced by reacting hydroxylalkyl cyclodextrin derivatives with bifunctional crosslinking agents such as epichlorhydrin or diepoxides, followed by hydroxyalkylation of the primary product so obtained. The cyclodextrin polymerizates produced in this manner have mechanical properties appreciably superior to those of known, comparable cyclodextrin polymers.
