The invention relates to the use of compounds of general formula (I): R<1>aRebOc, where a is 1 to 6, b is 1 to 4, and c is 1 to 14 and the sum of a, b and c is compatible with the penta- or heptavalency of the rhenium and provided that c is not greater than 3b, and where R<1> is an alkyl residue with 1 to 9 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl residue with 5 to 10 carbon atoms or an aralkyl residue with 7 to 9 carbon atoms or an aralkyl residue with 7 to 9 carbon atoms, where R<1> can be at least partially fluorinated, the compounds contain not more than three groups with more than 6 carbon atoms per rhenium atom and at least one hydrogen atom is also linked to the carbon atom in the alpha position, which are applied to oxidic carrier materials, as catalysts for ethenolytic metathesis of olefinic compounds. The invention also relates to a process for metathesis of olefins in which olefins of formula (II), where n is a whole number between 1 and 28, K stands for h or F, Y stands for H or alkyl with 1 to 10 carbon atoms and Z stands for H or a non-aromatic hydrocarbon residue with 1 to 6 carbon atoms, but Y and Z are not hydrogen simultaneously, and the substituent R<2> is H, alkyl, halogen, COOR<3> or OR<4>, where R<3> and R<4> stand for alkyl with 1 to 15, preferably 1 to 6, carbon atoms or phenyl, which can also contain 1 to 3 substituents on the ring or where R<4> stands for trialkylsilyl R<5>3Si, where R<5> stands for alkyl with 1 to 5, preferably 1 to 3, carbon atoms, are reacted with ethylene on catalysts consisting of oxidic support materials which are applied to the rhenium compounds of the above-mentioned type. |
