titleOfInvention | Process for preparing hydroxyalkyl-1 nitro-5 imidazoles |
abstract | Process for preparing hydroxyalkyl-1 nitro-5 imidazoles of the general formula (I) by the action of an alkylene oxide on a complex of sulphuric anhydride with a derivative of imidazole of the general formula (II) followed by the acid hydrolysis or alcoholysis of the product obtained. In the general formulae (I) and (II), R is hydrogen, phenyalkyl or phenyl (possibly substitued). In the general formula (I), n is 2 or 3 and one or more carbon atoms of the alkylene chain may be substitued by one or more methyl radicals. In the general formula (II), X is a group which may be eliminated by acid hydrolysis or alcoholysis. |
