abstract Oral hygiene/dentifrice preparations contain a combination of fluoride or monofluorophosphate and phosvitin which counteracts demineralization of dental enamel. These substances act synergistically to help prevent demineralization of dental enamel. The concentration of fluorine compounds and phosvitin in the preparations is chosen so that, when applied, a concentration of at least 0.01 wt.% of dissolved fluorine and at least 0.01 % of phosvitin is present in the buccal cavity.
