abstract | The present invention provides a method of administering a peptide to a bird in ovo. The method comprises depositing a physiologically active peptide in the air cell of an egg, preferably during about the last quarter of in ovo incubation, in an amount effective to achieve a physiological response in the bird, an then incubating the egg to hatch. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, thyroid releasing hormone (TRH) is administered into chicken eggs. Eggs produced by the process of the invention and apparatus for carrying out the process of the invention are also disclosed. |
