abstract A hardener for use in a binder composition comprises a blocking amount of the metal soap and isocyanate. The metal soap is added to the isocyanate and mixed to form a solution. This solution is contacted with a waterglass to form a binder composition. The binder composition may optionally contain a waterproofing agent such as a paraffin wax emulsion or a dimer alkyl ketene. The binder composition is employed to prepare plywood, particle board, oriented strand board, fibre board, fiberglass and the like.
