titleOfInvention Degradable polymeric compositions
abstract There is disclosed a degradable polymeric composition wherein the degradation is initiated by ultraviolet radiation and once initiated the degradation process persists after removal from exposure to ultraviolet radiation and also under anaerobic conditions. The composition comprises an organic polymeric material having dispersed therein a degradation-controlling amount of an additive system consisting essentially of at least one alkoxylated ethylenically saturated or unsaturated compound as photo-sensitizer/readily auto-oxidizable additive and, optionally, at least one other readily auto-oxidizable organic substance.
