Gangliotetraosylceramide as an adsorbent for enteric viral pathogens |
abstract |
The binding of neutral glycolipid GA1 (asialo-GM1) to a broad spectrum of enteric viruses is taught. The glycolipid can be used to pass through the gastrointestinal tract of adults and children to absorb viral particles and remove them from the body. The glycolipid may be used alone or bound to a non-absorbable resin or matrix. |
