In a process for manufacturing chip boards from all kinds of chips, a binder is applied to the chips contained in a mixer and the mixture obtained is pressed to form boards. The binder contains water glass and a one-component, crosslinkable isocyanate resin as well as (a) a hydraulic binder which reacts with water to form Ca(OH)2, preferably cement, in a quantity sufficient to bind the water produced from the reaction of the water glass with the isocyanate resin and the water contained in the components, in particular in the chips, and (b) organic silicon compounds which are liquid at ambient temperature and which yield silicic acid on hydrolysis, preferably silicic acid esters, in a quantity sufficient to ensure the conversion of the Ca(OH)¿2? to CaSiO3. |
