A high-molecular polyimidoylamidine of an intrinsic viscosity of from 0.12 to 0.60 dl/g and a high-molecular polytriazine of an intrinsic viscosity of from 0.15 to 0.65 dl/g, derived from said polyimidoylamidine, are disclosed. Polyimidoylamidines having molecular weight varied in a wide range, including a high-molecular one, can be advantageously prepared by reacting hexafluoropropylene oxide oligomer dinitrile having a bifunctional purity of at least 95 mol % with ammonia and reacting the reaction product with a specified amount of hexafluoropropylene oxide oligomer dinitrile. It was found that a polyimidoylamidine having an intrinsic viscosity in a specified range is useful as a lubricant for magnetic recording material and a surface treatment for metallic material or inorganic material such as ceramic. It was also found that a polytriazine having an intrinsic viscosity in a specified range is useful as a viscosity modifier for fluorocarbon oil or grease comprising perfluoro polyether, a lubricant which can be used under high-temperature and/or high-vacuum conditions, a lubricant for magnetic recording material, and a highly stable torque transmitting oil. |
