titleOfInvention | Process for producing surface-active alkylglucosides |
abstract | In a process based on transacetylation with butanol, glucose is first reacted with butanol by acid catalysis, the water of reaction is removed by distillation, and the acidic solution of the butylglucoside in butanol is then added to a mixture, previously heated to 100-125C, of a longer-chain (C12?-C18?) primary alcohol and another acid catalyst, while the butanol is removed by distillation. The product obtained after the classic concentration process has a colour which is stable to alkalis and possesses a high C12?-C18? alkylmonoglucoside content and a low butylglucoside content. |
