Propylene-ethylene copolymer composition and process for its production |
abstract |
A propylene-ethylene copolymer composition and a process for its production are disclosed. The composition comprises: (a) 10 to 25 parts by weight of a propylene-ethylene copolymer containing 90 wt.% or more ethylene component; and (b) 75 to 90 parts by weight of a propylene-ethylene copolymer containing 0.5 to 2.5 wt.% of ethylene component, with the difference between the limiting viscosity (θa) of copolymer (a) and the limiting viscosity (θb) of copolymer (b) (θa ∩ θb) being -0.2 to +1.2 dl/g. The process comprises first copolymerizing propylene with ethylene in such a manner that the proportion of copolymer (a) accounts for 10 to 25 parts by weight using a stereospecific catalyst, and copolymerizing propylene with ethylene in such a manner that the proportion of copolymer (b) accounts for 75 to 90 parts by weight, while controlling the difference in the limiting viscosity (θa ∩ θb) in the range of from -0.2 to +1.2 dl/g. This composition is preferable for insulating oil-impregnated capacitor film. |
