abstract This invention encompasses peptides derived from residues 45 to 64 of the 1A protein of human respiratory syncytial virus. These peptides are useful as vaccines against human or bovine respiratory syncytial virus, with or without adjuvant, and as therapeutic agents for treating paramyxovirus infections by stimulating the function of T-lymphocytes. The peptides of this invention can be used concurrently with other peptides which have antigenic sites. The T-lymphocyte stimulating activity of the HRSV protein 1A derived peptide elicits and enhances immunogenic response to the other peptides. The HRSV protein 1A derived peptide may be incorporated into a vaccine or used as part of a therapeutic agent, alone or together with different peptides which have antigenic sites. Such a combination results in an induced or enhanced antibody response directed against the antigenic site of the different peptide.
